Who are the Pegasus Flyers??
Pegasus Flyers Inline Skate Club is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established to promote all styles of inline skating in the Dallas/Fort Worth area as both a safe and fun lifetime activity. Our members consist of a very diverse group of people from all walks of life and range in age from 7 to 66. We have married individuals, couples, singles, single parents and children who enjoy getting together weekly to enjoy each others company and the freedom fitness that safe inline skating provides. This combination of personalities and skills enhances the experience of getting together with other skaters without having to talk shop or think too much about work.

The overwhelming majority of club members are eager to help new skaters experience the joys of inline skating, and will go out of their way to make them feel welcome. Almost everyone in the club has extreme sympathy for newcomers with all their apprehensions, because they were once there themselves. We all know how intimidating it can be to join an organization with seasoned members, who know the ropes, when we know very little. That is what the club is all about. It is about spreading the joys of safe inline skating throughout the community. We are based in Dallas, TX.

Why skate with the Pegasus Flyers??
We offer many opportunities to get together and skate in the DFW Area for fun, exercise, socializing and to be proactive in the community. Our group Social Skates give people the chance to skate with others of a similar skill level PLUS a chance to learn different techniques from other skaters. We also have Skate Maintenance Clinics and Stopping Skills Clinics when needed. Please go to our Membership page to find out more reasons to join.

Salomon Inline Skates are available at every group skate with prior arrangements.

WHY PEGASUS?
For twenty years, the Magnolia Building , was the tallest building in Dallas; in fact, when built in 1922, it was the tallest building south of Washington, DC. Sitting atop the Magnolia was "The Pegasus," still a symbol of Exxon/Mobil Corp., it was erected by Mobil's predecessor, Magnolia Petroleum Co., for a 1934 oil industry convention. Actually, there are two horses up there - back to back. Some have said this was done so that no one could call Dallas a "one-horse" town. Back then, motorists claimed the blazing red lights could be seen from over 50 miles away. Over the years the flying red horse came to be adopted as the city's unofficial logo. But, it has acquired a new meaning as well, in 1976 the Flying Red Horse was given to the city. It had not glowed since 1997 and had not rotated for almost 25 years. After a $600,000 restoration, The Pegasus, our "Flying Red Horse" was relit and greeted the new Millennium, January 1, 2000, the same day our website went up. Along with the dazzling lights of the Dallas skyline, it is the unique signature of a unique city, Dallas, Texas, USA! Pegasus' birth from adversity is a symbol of what is possible if feats are met head on. And the Myth of Pegasus (pic 1, pic 2) is what is so powerful for Dallas. It continues to rise out of impossible odds, embracing new oppositions and new imagination. Pegasus Flyers Inline Skate Club feel that this is the perfect symbol as we try to get the laws changed and as we bring organized inline group skating to Dallas, Texas.
